theactivists theatre company

Role: founder, playwright, producer

After serving as a theatre director for Atlanta Public Schools, I founded TheActivists Theatre Company—a social justice–driven company rooted in the power of live performance to spark reflection, healing, and dialogue within Black communities. In its early days, I wrote, directed, cast, stage-managed, and produced original works independently, including the company’s flagship production, Black Matter. The show explored themes of Black excellence, internalized struggle, self-love, and joy, earning acclaim at national festivals such as the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival and the Rochester Fringe Festival, where it was awarded “Most Inspiring Show of the Season.” By its second year, I had assembled a full creative team to expand our production capacity, and Theactivists went on to provide production services—including stage management and lighting design—for clients in Atlanta, as well as theatrical contracts in New York, Florida, and North Carolina. The company also offered acting classes and headshot services for emerging performers. While TheActivists Theatre Co. has since dissolved, I remain active in the theatrical space as a production consultant and lighting designer for select productions across Atlanta.
